Shawn Parks - Guitar instructor/
Founder of Bojangles Guitar School: Shawn is a published songwriter
who has studied with guitar greats such as Ray Wylie Hubbard
and Davin James where he learned guitar technique and composition.
Shawn is also the younger brother of legendary Briargrove
Pianist Jennie Nevil. Shawn began Bojangles Guitar School
to pass along his love of the guitar and inspire the next
generation of great Houston musicians.
Bill Savoie - Drum/percussion instructor: Bill has a B.A. in Music from the University
of Houston which included instruction in music theory and
music history and has been playing drums since the age
of 6. His instructors have included Larry Vanlandingham
(Baylor University), Joe Raynor and Tom Phares. Bill has
played in a number of bands in the Houston area and with
groups as diverse as the UH Jazz Band and the Waco Syphony
Orchestra. He excels at teaching rudimentary drumming,
drum set and percussion techniques.
Miko Crouch – Piano/Vocal Instructor: Miko has trained formally from the
age of 3. She began playing with chamber and large-scale
orchestras from the age of 11 and lounge performing while
holding the post of director of music at a Presbyterian church
before moving to the United States. Her vocal instruction
includes University of Houston's Timothy Jones and Georgia
Southern University's Kyle Hancock, and most recently mentored
by broadcaster Chuck Tiller of Newstalk 1070 KNTH for voice
production work. She is a regular performer in the dance
troupe Dominion since 2007.
Travis Stephenson - Guitar: Travis is the 2008 and 2009 regional winner of the International Blues Challenge. He has recorded
over 700 live performances as a guitarist, and has been teaching in Houston
for five years. He has the ability and knowledge to teach any age
and any skill level. He enjoys teaching and performing in many different
genres including
country, blues, rock and worship music.
